The United Nation Development Program (UNDP) through Afghanistan Sub National Governance Program (ASGP) was exploring how the internet and other Information Technologies (IT) could impact on the productivity and performance of the government and how application of technology can increase effectiveness, efficiencies and transparencies within the government departments.

BeyondSolutions team conducted a pilot information management capacity assessment of four departments (Governor’s office, Municipality, Cadastral office and Central Statistics Office) in Balkh and Faryab provinces to assess:

  • Human capacity
  • Information Management mechanism/system(Digital/Manual)
  • IT infrastructure
  • Review the manual process and procedure
  • Provide recommendations leading to overall improvement
  • Administrative Procedures and Logistics

The overall aim of the assessment was to explore how the modern technology and information management systems could impact the productivity and performance of the government to increase the effectiveness, efficiencies and transparencies within the government departments, the aims of the assessment was also to explore how to introduce better information management infrastructure so that proposed systems are smoothly operated over a reliable network
